�An Easterly wind can sometimes be a 'berg wind', with associated gusts, turbulence, and dust-devils. Take care that you do not under-estimate the wind speed, as it can be very strong aloft. �If the wind swings to southerly, the gully in front of launch produces wicked turbulence.

access

Take the N1 towards Paarl, turn left onto the N7, and drive to Piketberg. Enter the town via the first turning, and drive through town, exiting on the northern end. After 1 km turn left at the signboard 'Versveld Pass'. Park, on the cutaway to the left just after the last tight hairpin turn.

regulation

ceiling 450m ASL (military), 2100m ASL (commercial). PERMISSION: none needed. Access to the radio mast above Piketberg town through Eskom to be negotiated.
