Please contact the Eagle Cap Paragliding Club (ECPC) for the latest information and updates on flying from Mt. Howard. Mt. Howard is a foot launch paragliding & hang gliding site located 7 miles south of Joseph, Oregon. The launch site faces north and is most commonly flown from July through the end of September. The Wallowa Lake Tramway (WLT) offers transportation to the public to the top of the mountain. Then, a ½ mile hiking trail leads to the launch site, located on National Forest land. This is a high profile and sensitive flying site so please respect this site guide information and only fly within your limits. All pilots are required to be “CURRENT” members of the United States Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association (USHPA). A minimum Paragliding *Intermediate (P-3) with special skill TUR (Turbulence) or Hang Gliding Advanced (H-4) certification is required. All licenses will be checked, indemnity waiver signed, site guide review completed, and ECPC membership collected before visiting pilots are signed off to fly. Please contact the Eagle Cap Paragliding Club before you arrive to organize paperwork, a site briefing, and a time when club members are available. Paragliding Intermediate (P-3) pilots are required to have the turbulence (TUR) special skill, and it is highly recommended to also have the High Altitude (HA), Restricted Landing Field (RLF), and Cross Country (X-C) special skills.ACTIVITIES
